Music

I’m a drummer. I studied at Berklee, played in a progressive metal band, taught private lessons and a high school drumline, and never stopped collecting records. Here are the albums I keep coming back to, the drummers on them, and where I’d start with jazz. What I’m playing right now is on Listening.

Jazz 101

People keep asking me where to start with jazz, so I wrote it down. Begin with Miles Davis, find the period you like, and follow his sidemen. There’s a list of records, too.

Surface Tension

In the late 90s and early 2000s I played drums in a progressive metal band called Clockwork. We released our debut album in 1999.

I’m a collector, mostly jazz and fusion, with a lot of new wave, post punk, metal and progressive rock. The whole shelf is catalogued on Discogs.
